About Us
MEET OUR TEAM
Span Trust is till date known for its various free services to the community, like the marriage information service, employment exchange, medical aid, and scholarships for deserving students.
In 2012, Masood Sir took the courageous initiative to start the Span International Academy, an IGCSE school that also teaches values from the Quran. It has an integrated curriculum that teaches Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies, etc.
The efforts put in by staff and the co-founders of the school, Ms. Farah Shaikh & Ms. Sameera Shaikh, have made it possible that the dream envisioned has turned into a reality.
Masood Sir has laid the foundation for the future leaders of Span, which they can emulate as the most focused and professional leaders any school can have. For this, every student or staff member will always remain indebted to him.
Handing over the baton of leadership to the new Chairman, Mr. Suhail Ansari, was a well-contemplated decision that has started to put the Span SIA on the path to progress at a propelling speed.
Meet Our Founder
Our founder Chairman, Ross Masood Shaikh, is a candle in the dark for many lives.
Born in a family of educators and government officials, Masood Sir witnessed a lot of mentorship roles his parents, uncle, and grandparents played for close relatives and the community at large.
He grew up with a desire to be a businessman who can support hardworking youth and generate employment for the downtrodden in the society.
Gaining a B.E. (Mech) degree from the famed Trichi College in Tamil Nadu set his engineering career at pace. His skills reached new heights with every new project he executed at the prestigious and progressive Thermax Boilers Ltd. company in Pune.
He established his own manufacturing company, Ross Boilers Ltd.
Soon, the urge to give back to society made him take early retirement from his own business, and he started a Trust named Span Welfare Charitable Trust in the 1970’s along with his cousins & friends.
MEET OUR CHAIRMAN
They say Life is all making choices. What you choose is reflected in the quality of life you lead. ‘Choice’ brings to mind choosing from the options available. This process is more emotional, intuitive, a reaction, temporal and may change from time to time. However, those choices that are made after going through the rigors of critical thinking could be called as ‘Decisions’.
The purpose of education is to develop critical thinking abilities in an individual. These critical thinking abilities will lead the person to make the right decisions which will benefit him individually as well as benefit the community at large. What then is critical thinking? It begins with defining an issue specifically and correctly. Then collecting all information related to the issue at hand with evidence and logic, applying analytical skills to this information, understanding your own strengths and limitations and then arriving at a possible solution. You then challenge this solution with alternative logics. If the solution survives the challenge then it can be implemented as a well-informed decision. Insha’Allah, this decision would be beneficial.
The Holy Quran also emphasises in many verses, critical thinking through tafakkur (reflection) and tadabbur (contemplation). For example, Surah Jathiya V13 (…..most surely there are signs in this for people who reflect). We can think, reflect and ponder about our present world and the hereafter and attain personal development through it. It brings tranquillity upon a person and his maturity can be easily distinguished by his demeanour and his actions
At Span International Academy, we believe in holistic development of the student. As such through IGCSE syllabus and the well-crafted activities and events, we aim to begin creating community leaders capable of critical thinking and hard decision making, thus making them supremely confident. Now it is the responsibility of the parents and the society to involve the students in various problem statements, give them an opportunity, and guide them to practice the process of critical thinking and decision making. They will be our society of the future.
Wishing you all the best and May Allah bless all our efforts.
Principal's Perspective
Ms. Sameera Nadeem Shaikh
Co-Founder / Director / Principal
As the new exciting academic year will unfold we will encounter it’s new challenges and blessings as well. I would like to share a quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” This powerful thought reminds us that education is a lifelong treasure that strengthens us in times of both stability and crisis.
Education is a timeless beacon that equips young minds with wisdom, resilience, and clarity to face every situation in life. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized the importance of learning when he said: “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”
At our school, we remain firmly committed to the holistic development of every child nurturing their physical strength, emotional well-being, and spiritual growth. We encourage students to take full advantage of the school’s vision. As an exclusive institution focused on value-based education, we aim to shape not only capable learners but individuals of strong character and purpose.
This year’s Annual Sports Day will provide an excellent platform to elevate both academic mindset and physical attributes. Students are encouraged to begin their preparation from day one with enthusiasm, discipline and determination.
The new academic year also opens doors to more engaging forms of learning that will take our students many steps forward, preparing them to become collaborative, analytical, and self-motivated global citizens.
I wish that each student would proudly wear the Badges of Spanites, recognized as those who demonstrate the excellent tarbiyah instilled by their parents and teachers. I pray that all students, like our alumni, stand out distinctively in any gathering and are proudly recognized as true Spanites.
